Both developed and developing countries are currently facing a number of problems related to aging.
To deal with such problems, interdisciplinary collaboration between European and Asian experts is necessary.
This book is a product of the unique,
interdisciplinary conference “The Impact of Aging – A Common Challenge for Europe
and Asia,”
which took place in Vienna
from 7-9 June, 2006. In it nearly 50 authors draw our attention to the latest
findings and data in demography, economy and society, law and social welfare,
as well as biomedicine. Unique is their description of both mutuality and
divergence in the progress of ageing in Europe
and Asian population trends that will transform the world in fundamental way by
2050.
